I've tried to remove all media applications from Windows 7 using optionalfeatures.exe, and then reinstalling them, with no change in behavior. It seems to me that either Nokia Music Manager or Apple iTunes have messed up my codecs when uninstalling/installing. VLC media player and iTunes are able to play all files that WMP is unable to play with no problems. The Media Center application behaves in the same manner.
